Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Joy Global Inc. (JOY): the stock of the Milwaukee, WI based mining equipment manufacturer is on a joy ride today surging $7.42 or 14.39% to new 52 weeks high of $58.98 per shares today as the company's first quarter profit soared to 48 cents per share versus 18 cents per share in the same quarter of previous year. About four times average volumn of 6.6 million shares have exchanged hands.
  • American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (AEOS): shares of Warrendale, PA based casual clothing retailer rose 13.51% to $28.91 per share as the company reported strong fourth quarter result as the profit rose 7% on higher sales. The stock is the tenth leading gainer on Nasdaq with 10.9 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Cogent Inc. (COGT): shares of South Pasadena, CA based fingerprint biometrics solutions provider tumbled 16.77% or $3.9 to new 52 weeks low of $19.36 per share on negative outlook and analysts downgrade despite record fourth quarter profit. More than nine times average volumn of 6.7 million shares have exchanged hands as the stock became the third biggest loser on Nasdaq.
  • Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. (PSUN): the Anaheim, California based casual apparel retailer today reported fourth quarter earning in line with analysts estimates. However the stock dropped 7.9% to $21.93 on analysts downgrades as the company also issued cautious guidance for the first quarter. 13 million shares have traded, almost 10 times average volumn.
