Stocks On The Move - August 4

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Scottish Re Group Ltd. (SCT): the Bermuda based life insurance company was on the hot list again as it surged 10.32% to $7.48 per share, up almost 100% since it was hammered to new low of $3.99 on July 31 due to resignation of the company's president and chief executive. The company on Friday announced it may be up for sale. The rally looks like isn't over as ROC is still at oversold level. The stock was the eighth leading gainer on NYSE with 8.4 million shares traded.
  • Chiquita Brands International Inc.(CQB): shares of Cincinnati, Ohio based bananas products company soared 26.34% to $16.93 per share after the company posted second quarter earnings which beat Wall Street's estimates. The stock has reversed the downtrend and is heading to 200 day moving average. If the stock can top over 200 day MA and bring MACD back above 0 to bull market, expect the stock to go much higher in the next few months. The stock was the second leading gainer on NYSE today with 5.27 million shares traded.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • ICAgen Inc. (ICGN): shares of Durham, North Carolina based biopharmaceutical company were hammered hard by 73.58% to all time low of $1.12 per share after the company cut patient enrollment in a late-stage study. The stock was oversold as RoC is at record low and should expect some bounce backs. The stock was the biggest loser on the market today with 10.9 million shares traded.
  • Kinetic Concepts Inc. (KCI): shares of San Antonio based wound care product maker plunged 41.4% to new low of $24.95 per share on losing the patent case for its wound-care system. This was the second time the stock plunged for the past 52 weeks as last October the stock plummetted from $56 to $35 in two days. Now since ROC is at oversold level do expect recovery for some time. The stock was the worst performer on NYSE today with 13.6 million shares exchanged hands.
