• New York Times Company (NYT): shares of newspaper publisher rose 9.83% to $20.22 per share as the company reported increase in third quarter earning from $12.6 million to $13.4 million. Heavy volumn of 6 million shares were traded.

• Level 3 Communication Inc. (LVLT): shares plunged 24.07% to $3.28 per share. The stock was the fifth leading decliner and the heaviest traded stock on Nasdaq 280 million shares traded.
