Stock on the Move - March 9
Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
- SFBC International Inc. (SFCC): the Miami, Florida based drug development services company on Wednesday reported strong fourth quarter result and 2006 outlook. The news helped boost the stock price 23.57% or $4.25 to $22.28 as 7.2 million shares exchanged hands. The stock was the biggest winner on Nasdaq today.
- Coldwater Creek Inc. (CWTR): shares of Sandpoint, Idaho based retailer of women's apparel and jewelry surged 17.55% or $3.81 to new 52 weeks high of $25.52 as the company reported stronger than forecast fourth quarter result. The stock was the fourth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 7.9 million shares traded.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Wind River Systems Inc. (WIND): the Alamenda, California based software company on Wednesday reported fourth quarter earnings slightly below analysts's estimates. However it was the negative outlook of 2007 that hurt the stock as shares plunged 20.77% to $12.17 per share. The stock was the second leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 15 million shares exchanged hands.
- Movie Gallery Inc. (MOVI): shares of the No. 2 U.S. movie rental chain dropped for the second straight session as the stock lost another 17.41% to new 52 weeks low of $2.04 per share with 12 million shares. In the previous session the investors were worried that the company may file for bankruptcy after the company met with banks to renegotiate credit agreement.
