Stocks On The Move - August 9
Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
- Banta Corp. (BN): shares of Menasha, Wisconsin based printing company soared 35.33% to $46 per share on confirmed hostile bid from Cenveo Inc. for $46 per share. In the previous session the stock has fall to new 2 year low after the company reported dissappointing second quarter result two weeks ago. The stock was the leading gainer on NYSE today with 5.2 million shares traded.
- Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO): shares of the world's largest network equipment maker jumped 14.38% to $19.78 on better than expected outlook. Buyers saw opportunity after the stock hit base in the previous session while ROC is at oversold level. The stock was the heaviest traded and the nineth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 221.6 million shares exchanged hands or four times average volumn.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Allion Healthcare Inc. (ALLI): shares of Melville, NY based pharmacy and disease management services provider plummetted 41.47% to new two year low of $3.5 per share on analyst downgrade as the company missed Wall Stree earnings estimates and cut its earning guidance for the year. With ROC now showing the stock is oversold, do expect some bounce back in the next few days. The stock was the biggest loser on Nasdaq today with 7.2 million shares traded or 23 times times average volumn.
- Hospira Inc. (HSP): shares of Lake Forest, IL based specialty pharmaceuticals product maker tumbled 17.64% to $35.25 per share on declining second quarter profit due to charge relating to becoming an independent company. This ended the rally which began in April of this year. The low ROC at oversold level should attract bargain hunters, yet with MACD now below 0 and K line now below D line don't expect bull rally from the stock for a while. The stock was the third leading decliner on NYSE today with 14.8 million shares exchanged hands.
