Stocks On The Move - November 14

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Netopia Inc. (NTPA): the Emeryville, California based braodband networking equipment provider soared 22.18% to $6.83 per share after Motorola would acquire the company for $7 per share. The stock was the fifth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 12.94 million shares traded.
  • Dillard's Inc.(DDS): shares of Little Rock, Arkansas based department stores operator surged 21.84% to $35.59 per share on surprisingly strong quarterly earning. For the third quarter the company reported profit of $13.6 million compared with net loss of $2.7 million in the same quarter of previous year. The stock was the top performer on NYSE today with 8.08 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Home Solutions of America Inc. (HSOA): the Dallas, Texas based home remodeling service company tumbled 14.8% to $5.18 per share after the company cut its revenue forecast for the year. The stock is now back near its 52 week low. The stock was the sixth leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 6.31 million shares traded.
  • Bodisen Biotech Inc.(BBC): shares of Chinese pesticides maker plunged for the second straight session and are now only half of the value of last Friday's close of $10.74. The stock today plummetted 30.67% to $5.9 per share after it received letter from Amex yesterday saying that the stock is not compliant with certain standard. The stock was the biggest loser on AMEX with 3.85 shares traded.
