Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. (GMST): shares of TV guide publisher surged 12% to $5.98 per share after the company said it was seeking ways to sell the company. The stock was the nineth leading gainer and the nineth heaviest traded on Nasdaq today with 27.6 million shares traded.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • DepoMe Inc.(DEPO): shares of pharmaceutical company plunged 59.43% to new 52 weeks low of $2 per share after the company reported disappointing result for its Gabapetin GR tablet. The stock was the leading decliner and the fourteenth heaviest traded on Nasdaq with 22.8 million shares traded.
  • Beacon Power Corp. (BCON): after shares of the energy storage product maker rose more than 100% gain in a little more than a month, people began to take profit and sank the stock 21.43% to $1.8 per share. The after hour loss of 2.22% may indicate another volatile session tomorrow. The stock was the fourth leading gainer on Nasdaq with 9.8 million shares traded.
