Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC): despite weak forecast in first quarter sales, shares of Sunnyvale, CA based semiconductor company rose almost 15% to $2.8 per share on bullish second quarter sales outlook. The stock was the seventh leading gainer on Nasdaq on Friday with 15.52 million shares traded.
  • Beacon Power Corp. (BCON): the energy storage product maker has been on the move recently, rising from below $1 per share to $1.85 per share on Friday, a 100% gain in a little more than a month. Shares surged 13.5% or 22 cents to ends at new 52 weeks high. Even a week ago the stock was trading at $1.2 per share. With the company gaining compliance with Nasdaq listing, more speculative penny stock lovers may keep on coming. The stock was the nineth leading gainer on Nasdaq with 6.1 million shares traded.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Parametric Technology Corp.(PMTC): shares of enterprise content management software maker plunged 20.12% to $17.23 per share on analysts downgrade after the company cuts the third quarter outlook. The stock was the second leading decliner on Nasdaq with 21.6 million shares traded.
