- Tenet Healthcare Corp.(THC): shares of Dallas, Texas based general hospitals operator surged for another 14.18% or $1.12 to $9.02 following yesterday's 8% gain as the buyers are back on analyst upgrade and mistrial on the company's legal woes. The stock is the leading advancer on NYSE today with 27.9 million shares traded, also the fifth heaviest traded on NYSE.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Discovery Laboratories Inc. (DSCO): the Warrington, PA based biotechnology company focuses on treatment for the prevention of respiratory distress syndrome in premature infants. The stock today plunged 29.2% or $2.07 to new 52 weeks low of $5.02 per share on analyst downgrade after the Food and Drug Administration requested for more information on the drug Surfaxin. The stock was the leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 10 million shares exchanged hands, about 18 times average volumn.
- St. Jude Medical Inc. (STJ): shares of St. Paul, MN based cardiovascular medical devices maker lost 12.23% or $5.05 to 52 weeks low of $36.25 as the company cuts its quarterly profit and revenue outlook citing slower sales of a heart device. The stock was the biggest loser on NYSE today with 18 times average volumn of 51.6 million shares traded, the second most traded stock on NYSE today.
