Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
- Crystallex International Corp. (KRY): shares of Toronto, Canada based gold mining company surged 19.68% or 62 cents to $3.77 per share after the Ministry fo Basic Industry and Mining approved the technical, economic and financial Feasibility Study for the Las Cristinas gold exploitation project in Republic of Venezuela. The stock was the fourth leading advancer on AMEX today with 10.6 million shares traded, about 5 times more than average volumn.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Encysive Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ENCY): shares of Bellaire, Texas based biopharmaceutical company plunged 49.34% or $4.48 to new 52 weeks low of $4.60 after the Food and Drug Administration requested additional clinical trial for the company's hypertension drug Thelin. The stock was the biggest loser percentage wise on Nasdaq today with 53 million shares traded, also the fifth most traded on Nasdaq.
- Generex Biotechnology Corp. (GNBT): shares of Toronto, Canada based potential avian flu vaccine maker tumbled 20.43% to $2.96 on negative comments from Smart Money article that the company have the least chance to deliver avian-flu treatment product. The stock was the second leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 35.8 million shares traded, the eleventh most traded stock on Nasdaq.
