Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ONXX): shares of Emeryville, CA based biopharmaceutical company developing therapies for kidney cancer skyrocketted 96.98% to $24.15 per share on successful trial result of its cancer drug Nexavar. The stock was the biggest winner and the second heaviest traded on Nasdaq today with 55.89 million shares traded.
  • Adeza biomedical Corp. (ADZA): shares of Sunnyvale, CA based infertility-related test product maker soared 53.12% to new 52 weeks high of $23.78 per share after Cytyc Cop. is buying the company for $452 million or $24 per share. The stock was the second leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 5.9 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Beacon Power Corp. (BCON): shares of Wilmington, MA based electricity grid operation products and services provider plunged 20.99% to 95.6 cents per share after the company received commitments for $10.6 million of new investment. The stock was the second leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 10.8 million shares traded or 16 times average volumn.
  • Administaff Inc. (ASF): shares of Kingwood, Texas based staffing services provider tumbled 21.89% to $33.65 per share after the company reduced its growth forecast for 2007. The stock was the biggest loser NYSE today with 5.14 million shares exchanged hands.
