Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Align Technologies Inc. (ALGN): shares of Santa Clara, CA based teeth misalignment treatment provider soared 21.21% to $16.69 per share as the company annouced upbeat forecast for first quarter of 2007. The stock was the second biggest winner on Nasdaq today with 8.81 million shares traded.
  • Ivanhoe Energy Inc.(IVAN): shares of Vancouver, Canada based oil and gas company jumped 19.31% to $1.73 per share on no news announcement. The stock was the third leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 8.3 million shares exchanged hands.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Genesis Microchip Inc. (GNSS): shares of Alviso, CA based flat-panel display controller chips maker plunged 18.15% to 52 weeks low of $8.07 per share after the company posted bigger than expected loss for the third quarter. The stock was the leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 12 million shares traded.
  • NutriSystem Inc. (NTRI): shares of Horsham, PA based weight loss program provider tumbled 10.01% to $52.05 per share and lost additional 11% to $46.2 as the company announced negative guidance for the first quarter of 2007. The stock was the fourth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 12.68 million shares traded.
