Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Generex Biotechnology Corp. (GNBT): shares of Toronto, Canada based bird flu vaccine maker soared 27.03% or 90 cents to new 52 weeks high of $4.23 per share as heavy buying continues on bird flu related stocks. The stock was the biggest winner on Nasdaq today with 41 million shares, the tenth most active stock on Nasdaq.
  • Mindspeed Technologies. (MSPD): shares of Newport Beach, California semidonductor solutions company for communications applications surged 14.24% or 47 cents to $3.77 on buy recommendation from Jim Cramer on his Mad Money show. The stock was the fourth leading advancer on Nasdaq with 30.7 million shares traded, about 15 times average volumn.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • PainCare Holdings Inc. (PRZ): shares of Orlando, FL, based spine surgery and pain management company plunged 24.6% to new 52 weeks low of $1.41 on new class-action lawsuit filed by Shalov Stone & Bonner LLP on company's misrepresentation of material which artificiallly inflated the stock price. The stock was the second leading decliner on AMEX with 5.8 million shares exchanged hands, about 10 times average volumn.
  • Valeant Pharmaceuticals International. (VRX): shares of Costa Mesa, CA based pharmaceutical company dropped 14.19% to 52 weeks low on disappointing trial data on its hepatitis C treatment. The stock was the biggest loser on NYSE today with 14.9 million shares traded.
