Stocks On The Move - August 25

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Hoku Scientific Inc. (HOKU): shares of Hawaii based fuel cell and solar power component company soared 36.05% to $4.68 per share on analyst upgrade. The stock has been on a rally with K line on top over D line. With MACD back above 0 the stock has the chance to get back to positive trend. The next resistence is around $5 per share. The stock was the leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 5.3 million shares traded.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Corcept Therapeutics Inc. (CORT): shares of Menlo Park, CA based drug maker plunged 56% to new 52 week low of $1.54 per share on clinical trial failure. With ROC now at oversold level the stock has chance to bounce back for a couple of days. The stock was the worst stock on Nasdaq today with 12.78 million shares traded.
  • H&R Block Inc. (HRB): shares of tax filing company dropped 8.69% to $20.81 per share after the company said it is expected to have an after-tax charge of $61.3 million. The stock has been on a weak market as it is below 50 day and 200 day moving average and MACD is below 0 indicating bear market. The stock was the leading decliner on NYSE today with 7.69 million shares traded.
