Stocks On The Move - August 22

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. (XMSR): after a year of decline which send the stock from $35 last August to as low as $9.63 recently shares of leading satellite radio provider soared 20.28% to $13.52 on analyst upgrade. The stock chart has probably formed a bullish "W" shape. The stock was the fourth leading gainer and seventh heaviest traded on Nasdaq today with 32.7 million shares traded.
  • Mills Corp. (MLS): shares of shopping center REIT surged 15.31% today to $19.28 per share on new deal with investor to raise 500 million. The stock has been up since mid August after the stock dropped to 52 weeks low. The stock was the second biggest winner on NYSE today with 7.2 million shares exchanged hands.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Candela Corp. (CLZR): shares of Wayland, MA based laser product maker for cosmetic procedures plunged 28.71% to $10.33 on analyst downgrade. The heavy drop in ROC to oversold level should attract some buyers. The stock was the worst stock on Nasdaq tody with 8.2 million shares traded.
  • Rambus Inc.(RMBS): shares of leading memory chips maker tumbled 9.67% to $11.21 on trial against the company. The support is currently at $10 per share and if the stock can stay above suppor we could see rally coming. The stock was the eleventh leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 13.9 million shares exchanged hands.
