Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. (CTB): shares of Findlay, Ohio based replacement tire manufacturer surged 15.11% to $11.2 as the company outlined cost cutting and profit imporvement plan. The stock has been rising as KD has climbed to recent high. Now that MACD is back above 0 the stock may continue to head higher. The stock was the biggest winner on NYSE today with 5.94 million shares traded.
  • U.S. Global Investors, Inc. (GROW): shares of San Antonio, Texas based mutul fund management service provider jumped 10.03% to $30.83 per share as the company reported record earning with sevenfold increase in earnings for the year 2006. The stock is in a strong bull market with MACD above signal and stock above 50 day and 200 day moving average. However with ROC showing stock is overbought, there's chance of profit taking. The stock was the twelveth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 5.26 million shares exchanged hands.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • AirTran Holdings Inc. (AAI): shares of Orlando, Florida based regional airline company tumbled 11.15% to $9.48 per share after the company lowered the third quarter revenue guidance due to softening demands. The stock may bounce back as it is back to support set back last year and ROC showing stock is oversold. The stock was the second leading decliner on NYSE today with 9.3 millin shares traded.
  • Shuffle Master Inc. (SHFL): shares of Las Vegas, Nevada based card shuffler maker dropped 9.91% to $24.26 per share on disappointing third quarter result. ROC shows the stock is oversold and as the stock is back to support for the year there's possibility that the buyer may come. The stock was the tenth leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 6.76 million shares traded.
