Stocks On The Move - August 28

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Energy Partners Ltd. (EPL): shares of New Orleans based oil and natural gas company soared 31.2% to $24.14 per share on takeover proposal from Australia's Woodside Petroleum for $23 per share. The stock was the biggest winner and the twelveth heaviest traded on NYSE with 12.3 million shares exchanged hands.
  • Anadigics Inc.(ANAD): shares of Warren, NJ based radio frequency chips maker surged 17% to $7.02 per share on bullish report from Barron. Although the moving average show weak signal as 50 day moving average is below 200 day moving average, other technical indicators actually show buy signal with MACD above 0 and K line on top of D line. The stock is the sixth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 10.5 million shares traded.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Gateway Inc. (GTW): shares of Irvine, CA based PC maker tumbled 9.6% to $1.79 per share. Recently the stock has been up as K line is rising on top of D line indicating buy signal. However with stock down again today the stock failed to break the downtrend and will continue to slide for a while. The stock was the second leading decliner on NYSE today with 8.77 million shares traded.
