Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Progen Industries Ltd. (PGLA): shares of Australia based biotechnology company skyrocketted 119.66% to $6.48 per share on positive result of clinical trial of liver cancer treatment. The stock was the leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 7.39 million shares traded.
  • Tenaris SA (TS): shares of Luxembourg based oil pipe maker rose 8.61% to $50.19 per share on rumors. The stock is in a strong bull market with 50 day moving average rising and was the third leading gainer on NYSE today with 6.99 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Biomira Inc. (BIOM): shares of Edmonton, Canada based therapeutic products maker for cancer plunged 20% to $1.24 per share as the company plans to offer 9.63 million units for $1.35 each. The stock was the fifth leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 6.9 million shares traded.
  • Cooper Companies Inc.(COO): shares of Pleasanton, CA based healthcare product maker tumbled 9.77% to $44.59 per share as the company cuts sales and profit forecasts for 2007. The stock is the leading decliner on NYSE today with 8.6 million shares traded.
