Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
- Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (IVN): shares of Vancouver, Canada based copper and gold mining company for property in Mongolia surged 16.58% to $11.18 per share as Rio Tinto(RTP), which holds huge stack of the company, appointed new CEO. The stock was the second leading gainer on NYSE today with 4.49 million shares traded.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Forbes Medi Tech Inc. (FMTI): shares of Vancouver, Canada based biotechnology company plunged for the second straight day with another 20.79% loss to new 52 weeks low of 80 cents per share. Yesterday shares plunged 57.38% as the mid-stage clinical trial of a drug fell short of the company's goal. FMTI was the worst stock of the day for second day in the row with 6.49 million shares exchagned hands.
- DRDGOLD Ltd. (DROOY): shares of South Africa based gold mining company tumbled 11.93% to new 52 weeks low of 96 cents per share. The stock was the sixth worst on Nasdaq todya with 9.24 million shares exchagned hands.
