Stocks On The Move - December 14
Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
- Worthington Industires, Inc (WOR): shares of Columbus, Ohio based steel processing company surged 11.04% to $20.32 per share on speculation that the company may be a buyout target. The stock was the third leading gainer on NYSE today with 5.62 million shares traded.
- Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD): shares of the world's second leading CPU maker soared 12.59% to $22.71 per share as company expects cost savings from acquisition of ATI Technologies. As the stock is still near the 52 weeks low, this is probabaly a good time to start buying. The stock was the biggest gainer and the second heaviest traded on NYSE today with 76 million shares traded.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Xenonics Holdings Inc. (XNN): shares of Carlsbad, CA based illumination products maker plunged 21.08% to $2.77 per share despite the company reported net income for the fourth quarter. The profit taking continues after the stock hit 52 weeks high of $4 last week. The stock was the leading decliner on AMEX of the day with 4.67 million shares traded.
- SiRF Technology Holdings Inc. (SIRF): shares of San Jose, CA based global positioning system(GPS) chips maker tumbled 11.46% to $26.2 per share on speculation that the company may have lost business of key customer to competitor. The stock was the seventh leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 9.49 million shares exchanged hands.
