Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Blue Dolphin Energy Co. (BDCO): shares of Houston, Texas based natural gas and oil exploration company jumped 40.12% or $2.03 to $7.09 as the company reported second consecutive profitable quarter. The stock is the leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 10.5 million shares traded, about 13 times average volumn.
  • Plug Power Inc.(PLUG): shares of Latham, NY based proton exchange membrance fuel cell technology company surged 22.54% or $1.1 to $5.98 on new investment from two Russian investment firm worth $217 million. The stock is the fifth leading advancer on Nasdaq today with 28.5 million shares traded, the twelveth most heaviest traded on Nasdaq.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • O2Diesel Corp. (OTD): after surging almost 100% last Friday, shares of O2Diesel, the Newark, DE based clean fuel technology company plunged 29.41% or 75 cents to $1.8 per share on profit taking. The stock was the biggest loser on AMEX today with 9.3 million shares traded.
  • Bausch & Lomb Inc. (BOL): shares of Rochester, NY based eye health products maker dropped 14.64% or $8.41 to new 52 weeks low of $49.03 on analyst downgrade following possible fungal infection caused by the company's contact lens solution. The stock was the second leading decliner on NYSE today with 26.7 million shares traded, also the fourth heaviest traded on NYSE.
