Stocks On The Move - September 11

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • NS Group Inc. (NSS): shares of Newport, KY oil and natural gas drill pipe maker soared 39.35% to 52 weeks high of $64.31 per share as the company would be acquired by Ipsco Inc. for $1.46 billion or $66 per share. The stock was the biggest winner on NYSE today with 5.53 million shares traded.
  • Freescale Semiconductor Inc. (FSL): shares of Austin, Texas based embedded semiconductor company surged 20.52% to new 52 weeks high of $37.06 per share as two private investment firms are set to buy the company for at least $16 billion. The stock was the second leading gainer and the third heaviest traded on NYSE today with 38 million shares exchanged hands.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • EuroZinc Mining Corp. (EZM): shares of Vancouver, Canada based metal mining company tumbled 12.77% to $2.46 per share. With ROC now hitting oversold mark, the stock has the change to bounce back up tomorrow. The stock was the fifth leading decliner on AMEX today with 5.43 million shares traded.
  • Silver Wheaton Corp. (SLW): this is the second Vancouver based mining company on the down side today. Shares lost 9.49% to $9.92 per share due to dropping precious metal prices. Since the stock is till in the bull market as both 50 day and 200 day moving average are heading up, today's drop which brought the stock back to 50 day moving average should actually brought buyers back. The stock was the fifth leading decliner on NYSE today with 4.08 million shares exchanged hands.
