Stocks On The Move - September 12

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn
  • Continental Airlines Inc. (CAL): shares of the nation's fifth-largest airline company surged 10.3% to $28.16 per share on dropping oil prices. Rising KD since mid August has also helped the recent rally. Now the stock is back above 50 day moving average we could probably see more positive things happening. The stock is the six best performer on NYSE today with 6.4 million shares traded.
  • AMR Corp. (AMR): the easing oil price definitely helped a lot of the airline company including American Airline which saw its shares gained 9.74% to $22.2 per share. This brings a little relif after the stock been tumbled recently from more than $25 in early July to less than $20 in early August. However the stock is still weak as 50 day moving average is still below 200 day moving average. The stock was the tenth leading gainer on NYSE today with 13 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn

  • Kroger Co. (KR): shares of the nations leading grocery chain lost 5.52% to $22.75 per share despite posted a strong earning for the second quarter. There is the possibility that the stock could bounce back up tomorrow as ROC is showing oversold and the stock is back around 50 day moving average. The stock was the fourth leading decliner on NYSE today with 8.26 million shares traded.
  • Hypercom Corp. (HYC): shares of Phoenix, Arizona based electronic payment product company tumbled 10.74% to $7.23 per share. The stock has been on the downtrend since May and now that the stock is below 200 day moving average it may not be a good idea to keep holding the stock. The stock was the second biggest loser on NYSE today with 3.6 million shares traded.
