Stocks On The Move - September 13

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Peabody Energy Corp. (BTU): shares of St. Louis, Missouri based coal company surged 9.58% to $38.43 per share as the stock rebounded from two weeks of decline. The stock has the chane to began new rally as K line is about to cross on top over D line at low level below 20. The stock was the seventh leading gainer on NSYE today with 13.67 million shares traded.
  • Energy Conversion Devices Inc. (ENER): shares of Rochester Hills, Michigan based solar cell maker jumped 12.76% to $37.2 per share on better than expected earning report. The stock is back to rally as K line has just cross on top of D line. Another good news is that MACD is back above 0 and the stock is back above 50 day moving average. The stock was the sixteenth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 6.26 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • International Coal Group Inc (ICO): shares of steam and metallurgical coal company plunged 13.56% to new 52 weeks low of $4.78 per share after the company cuts production and profit forecast for the year due to mounting cost. The stock is still very weak overall as is is trading below 50 day moving average with 50 day MA still falling. The stock ws the second biggest loser on NYSE today with 7.59 million shares exchanged hands.
  • Cardiome Pharma Corp. (CRME): shares of Vancouver, Canada based cardiovascular diseases drug maker tumbled 11.34% to $11.8 per share as the heart drug test data fell short of investor's expectations. With ROC now showing the stock is oversold, it has the chance to bounce back as the stock is back at 50 day MA and MACD is showing stock is still strong. The stock was the nineth leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 5.74 million shares traded.
