Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Immunicon Corp. (IMMC): shares of Huntingdon Valley, PA based cancer technology company jumped steel processing company surged 11.04% to $20.32 per share 30.19% to $3.45 per share after FDA approves a breast cancer test kit of the company. The stock was the fourth leading gainer on NYSE today with 5.1 million shares traded.
  • Quiksilver Inc. (ZQK): shares of Huntington Beach, CA based outdoor apparel and accessories maker rose 8.175 to 52 weeks high of $15.77 per share after the company reported fourth quarter earning which went doubled. The stock was the fifth leading gainer on NYSE today with 6.31 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Walter Industries Inc. (WLT): shares of Tampa, Florida based natural resource and homebuilding company plunged 45.91% to new 52 weeks low of $26.5 per share on spin-off of Mueller Water Products Inc. The stock was the leading decliner on NYSE of the day with 4.2 million shares traded.
  • ProQuest Company (PQE): shares of Ann Arbor, Michigan based publisher for education related products tumbled 26.85% to new 52 weeks of $10 per share after the company lowered its earnings guidance for 2006. The stock was the second leading decliner on NYSE today with 4.2 million shares exchanged hands.
