Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:


  • Forgent Networks Inc. (FORG): shares of Austin, Texas based scheduling software maker surged 15.33% to $1.58 per share although no news is announced. Within the month of December the stock has trippled from 50 cents per share. The stock was the eighth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 7.26 million shares traded.
  • Oscient Pharmaceuticals Corp. (OSCI): shares of Waltham, MA based biopharmaceutical company soared 20.48% to $5.06 per share on licensing for its Factive drug. This could marks the beginning of the turn around for the stock which lost 75% of its value this year. The stock was the fourth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 4.52 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Doral Financial Corp.(DRL): shares of San Juan, Puerto Rico based financial service company sank to 52 weeks low of $2.87 per share after the company reported third quarter loss of $28.7 million. The stock was the second leading decliner on NSYE today with 4.6 million shares traded.
  • Mamma.com Inc. (MAMA): profit taking continues for shares of the Montreal, Canada based web search technology company as the stock dropped 9.61% today to $4.89 per share. Earlier this month on the 21st the stock soared to as high as $8.6 per share. The stock was the seventh leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 5.5 million shares traded.
