Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
- Microvision Inc. (MVIS): shares of Redmond, Washington based image capture product maker soared 21.82% to $3.7r per share after unveiling an ultra-thin full-color projection display at the Consumer Electronics Show. The stock is now in a strong bull market with 50 day moving average going on top over 200 day moving average. The stock was the fifth leading gainer on Nasdaq with 5.64 million shares exchanged hands.
- StemCells Inc(STEM): shares of the Palo Alto, CA based biotech firm which focuses on stem cell related technology surged 16.92% to $3.11 per share as Democrats prepared to promote funding increase for government-funded research in Stem Cell. Another stem cell technology company benefits by the possible funding increase is ASTM. The stock was the eighth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 7.6 million shares traded.
Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Hot Topics Inc. (HOTT): shares of clothing retailer plunged $2.31 or 17.06% to $11.23 per share after the company reported a 5% drop in sales. The stock was the third biggest loser on Nasdaq today with 9.8 million shares traded.
- Constellation Brands Inc. (STZ): shares of Fairport, NY, based alcohol beverage producer tumbled 11.44% to $25.15 per share after the company reported earning that lost the mark and also lowered outlook for 2007. The stock was the second leading decliner on NYSE today with 9.15 million shares traded.
