(NXL): shares of New York based real estate investment trust operator surged 13.8% to new 52 weeks high of $33.39 per share after the company is bought by Australia-based Centro Properties Group for $33.15 per share. The stock was the fourth leading gainer on NYSE today with 14.1 million shares traded.
- Steel Technologies Inc. (STTX): shares of Louisville, Kentucky based flat-rolled steel processor and converter jumped 60% to $29.32 per share after the company agreed to be bought by Mitsui & Co. for $396 million or $30 per share. The stock was the leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 4.1 million shares traded.
Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn
- Fremont General Corporation (FMT): shares of Santa Monica, CA based mortgage loan operator plunged 24.38% to new 52 weeks low of $8.81 per share after the company announced that it will delay financial results report for fourth quarter. The stock was the biggest loser on NYSE today with 9.9 million shares traded.
- Joy Global Inc. (JOYG): shares of the Milwaukee, WI based mining equipment manufacturer tumbled 11.9% to $44.34 per share on dissappointing first quarter results below Wall Street's estimates. The stock was the seventh leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 13 million shares traded.
