Stocks On The Move - April 2

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Global Imaging Systems Inc. (GISX): shares of Tampa, Florida based printers and copier seller jumped 46.87% to 52 weeks high of $28.64 per share after Xerox is buying the company for $1.5 billion or $29 per share. The stock was the second leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 16.3 million shares traded.
  • First Data Corp.(FDC): shares of credit card transaction processor surged 20.63% to $32.45 per share after an affiliate of private equity firm is buying the company for $27 billion or $34 per share. The stock was the biggest winner and the heaviest traded on NYSE today with $118 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Altria Group Inc. (MO): shares of leading tobacco company plunged 22.31% to $68.22 per share after the company completed spin-off of Kraft Foods. Kraft Foods which trades under the symbol KFT was down 2.56% today. The stock was the leading decliner on NYSE today with 23 million shares traded.
