- Macy's Inc.(M): shares of leading department store operator advanced 7.64% to $43.09 per share as private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. is planning to buy the retailer for $52 per share. The stock was the eighth leading gainer and the fifth heaviest traded on NYSE today with 37.89 million shares traded.
Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Novastar Financial Inc. (NFI): shares of trouble subprime mortgage company plunged 17.58% to $5.86 per share as investor doubt if $150 million cash would be enough for the company. The stock was the worst performer on NYSE today with 8.55 million shares traded.
- CIT Group Inc. (CIT): shares of New York based Vancouver based mortgage provider tumbled 11.29% to $49.17 per share after the company said it will exit the home-leanding business. The stock was the third leading decliner on NYSE today with 7 million shares traded.
