Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Travelzoo Inc. (TZOO): shares of New York based online travel search engine provider surged for the second straight session by adding 18.03% or $5.16 to $33.75 per share on record first-quarter profit announced on Tuesday. The stock is the third biggest winner on Nasdaq today with 9 million shares traded, almost 2 millions more than the previous session.
  • Knight Capital Group Inc.(NITE): shares of Jersey City, NJ based asset management services provider soared 19.33% or $2.78 to $17.16 per share today as the firm posted doubled revenue for the first quarter compare to the same quarter in the previous year. on take-over deal from Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway for $600 million. The stock is the second leading gainer on NYSE today with 13 million shares traded, about 6 times average volumn.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Vitesse Semiconductor Corp. (VTSS): shares of Camarillo, CA based communication chip maker plunged 20.26% or 63 cents to $2.48 per share on stock options investigation of three of its top executives. as the revenue for the fourth quarter missed the analyst estimate by about $2 million. The stock is the biggest loser on Nasdaq today with 60 million shares traded, also the fourth heaviest traded on Nasdaq.
  • O2Diesel Corp. (OTD): shares of Newark, DE based clean fuel technology company tumbled 17.11% or 39 cents to $1.89 per share on continuous profit taking. The stock was trading as much as $2.92 on April 7 on contract with Department of Defense. The stock was the leading decliner on AMEX today with 6.3 million shares traded, about 5 times average volumn.
