Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
- Escala Group Inc. (ESCL): after probe of alleged fraud at the company's offices in Spain which cut the stock price from $32 last Monday down to as low as $3.95 on Froday, shares of New York based global collectibles merchant and auction house network operator skyrocketted 103.23% or $4.8 to $9.45 per share after the comapny annouced it faces no charge in connection with fraud probe. The stock was the biggest winner of the day among the US stock exchange with 22.9 million shares traded, the twelveth heaviest traded on Nasdaq.
- American Retirement Corp.(ACR): shares of Brentwood, TN based senior community operator surged 29.24% or $7.28 to new 52 weeks high of $32.18 per share after Brookdale Senior Living Inc. on Friday annouced it will acquire the company for $33 per share. The stock was the leading gainer on NYSE today with record volum of 11 million shares traded or 30 times average volumn.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (IVN): shares of Vancouver, Canada based copper and gold mining company for property in Mongolia plunged 22.03% or $2.04 to near 52 weeks low of $7.22 per share on concerns over the surprising windfall-profits tax on minerals imposed by the Government of Mongolia. for the third straight session by dropping additional 33.74% to new 52 weeks low of $4.34 per share on probe of alleged fraud at the company's offices in Spain. The stock was the biggest loser on NYSE today with 5.3 million shares traded, about 8 times average volumn.
- Taseko Mines Ltd. (TGB): shares of Vancouver, Canada based copper and gold mining company tumbled 16.27% or 54 cents to $2.78 per share on falling Gold price which dropped $16.8 to $695 per5 ounce. The stock was the sixth leading decliner on AMEX today with 6 million shares traded more than three times average volumn.
