(VICL): shares of San Diego, CA based pontential bird flu vaccine maker jumped 30.73% or $1.69 to new 52 weeks high of $7.19 per share on strong first quarter result toping Wall Street estimates and annoucement of positive test result on bird flu vaccine. The stock was the second leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 11.8 million shares traded, more than 50 times average volumn.
- Visteon Corp. (VC): shares of Van Buren Township, MI based componets maker for the new vehicle manufacturers surged 18.6% or $1.09 to $6.95 per share after the company swung to first quarter profit despite declining revenue. The stock was the biggest winner on NYSE today with 14.9 million shares exchanged hands, about seven times of average volumn.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- EFJ Inc. (EFJI): shares of Irving, Texas based wireless communication equipment maker voice plunged 29.13% or $2.89 to $7.03 per share after the company dropped back to net loss of $3.1 million for the first quarter compare to net income of $5.2 million for the same time last year. The stock was the third leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 6.2 million shares traded, about 33 times average volumn.
- Sapient Corp. (SAPE): shares of Cambridge, MA based business consulting service company plunged 26.88% or $2.11 to $5.74 per share after the company reduced first qurater outlook on deferred revenue and acquisition charges. The stock was the sixth leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 10.8 million shares traded or ten times average volumn.
