- General Motors Corporation(GM): shares of world's leading auto giant surged 9.55% or $2.25 to $25.8 per share on analyst upgrade on reducing risk of Delphi strike and increase liquidity. The stock is the tenth leading gainer and fifth heaviest traded on NYSE today with 25 million shares exchanged hands.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Escala Group Inc. (ESCL): shares of New York based global collectibles auction house plunged 61.78% or $19.77 to $12.23 per share on probe of alleged fraud at the company's offices in Spain. The stock was biggest loser on Nasdaq today with record volumn of 6.9 million shares traded, about 28 times average volumn.
- Glenayre Technologies Inc. (GEMS): shares of New York based network-based messaging and communication systems provider tumbled 37.05% or $2.16 to $3.67 per share on first quarter loss and exclusion from Sprint Nextel Corp.'s vendor selection. The stock was the third leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 9.9 million shares traded, almost 10 times average volumn.
