Stocks On The Move - September 26

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Acorda Therapeutics Inc. (ACOR): after soaring 282.88% in the previous session on positive clinical trial data, shares of Acorda Therapeutics rose another 29.41% to $11 per share, gaining almost 400% in just two days. The stock was the second leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 24.7 million shares traded.
  • Siga Technologies Inc.(SIGA): shares of New York based biological warfare defense drug maker jumped 53.79% to $1.63 per share after winning multi-year contract from Defense Department. The stock is now back around resistence which was set earlier in May. Although ROC shows stock is overbought and could trigger some profit taking, the stock has the chance to be back to bull market rally with K line on top over D line and MACD now back above 0. The stock is the top winner on Nasdaq today with 5.99 million shares exchagned hands.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • CytRx Corp. (CYTR): shares of Los Angeles, CA based biopharmaceutical research company plunged 26.23% to $1.35 per share. Although the mid-stage study of the company's Lou Gehrig's treatment drug showed positive sign, investors dumped the stock as it shows no statistical significance on disease progression. The stock is now back to support and the next few days could be critical as MACD still showing positive signal yet KD is showing weak sign with K line now crossed below D line. The stock was the second leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 5.36 million shares traded.
  • Advanced Medical Optics Inc. (EYE): shares of Santa Ana, CA based eye surgery products maker tumbled 16.31% to $38.75 per share after the company cut its 2006 outlook. The stock is in very weak market now with MACD below 0, K line below D line and stock below both 50 day and 200 day MA. The stock was the biggest loser on NYSE today with 19.7 million shares traded.
