Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
  • Foxhollow Technologies Inc. (FOXH): shares of Redwood City, CA based medical device maker for artery disease treatment soared 20.37% to $32.8 per share after pharmaceutical giant Merck is buying an 11% stack of the company. The stock was the second biggest winner on Nasdaq today with 5.91 million shares traded.
  • DIVX(DIVX): shares of San Diego based video software maker surged 19.31% to $21.63 per share. The stock began trading last Friday with IPO price at $16 per share. The stock was the third leading gainger on Nasdaq today with 7.32 million shares exchagned hands.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Red Hat Inc. (RHAT): shares of maker of Linux - a computer operating system, plunged 23.21% to $20.21 per share on huge profit drop for the second quarter. The stock is now in weak makret as K line has dropped below D line and the stock is now below 50 day and 200 day moving average. The stock was the second leading decliner and the sixth heaviest traded on Nasdaq today with 62.82 million shares traded.
  • Acorda Therapeutics Inc. (ACOR): after gaining 400% in just two days, profit taking send shares of Acorda Therapeutics down 18.18% to $9 per share. The ROC is showing the stock is way overbought which triggered the sell-off. The stock was the fourth leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 7.56 million shares traded.
