Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Yum! Brand Inc. (YUM): shares of fast food restaurants owner such as KFC and Pizza Hut surged 8.26% to $59.08 per share after the company reported strong third quarter earning. The technical chart is showing very bullish sign as 50 day moving average has just crossed on top over 200 day moving average. The stock was the seventh leading gainer on NYSE today with 9.66 million shares exchanged hands.
  • Discovery Laboratories Inc. (DSCO): shares of Warrington, PA based biotechnology company soared 23.94% to $2.64 per share on positive clinical trial result. The stock is now on a uptrend and has chance to keep going higher as MACD is also on top of 0 showing positive signal. The stock was the second biggest winner on Nasdaq today with 7.22 million shares traded or almost thirteen times average volumn.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Systemax Inc. (SYX): shares of Port Washington, NY based direct marketer of computer related products plunged 21.54% to $11.8 per share after the company delays second quarter report. The stock has the chance to bounce back as the stock is now back at 50 day moving average with ROC showing the stock is oversold. The stock was the biggest loser on NYSE today with 6.7 million shares traded.
