Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Ivanhoe Mines Ltd. (IVN): shares of Vancouver, Canada based copper and gold mining company for property in Mongolia soared 33.08% or $2.04 to $8.69 per share after mining company Rio Tinto plans to invest $1.5 billion to develop Ivanhoe's Mongolian copper and gold resources. The technical chart indicates rally as K line is on fop of D line. Now the stock is now back to bull market with MACD back above 0. The stock was the biggest winner on NYSE today with 9.45 million shares traded.
  • Illumina Inc.(ILMN): shares of San Diego, CA based genetic biotechnology company surged 19.49% to $43.78 per share on strong third-quarter result and raised fiscal guidance. The stock is in a very strong bull market with both 50 day and 200 day moving average still going up. The stock was the third leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 9.66 million shares traded.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Apollo Group Inc. (APOL): shares of Phoenix, Arizona based online university operator plunged 22.86% to $37.55 per share on dropping net income from $106 million to $93.5 million. The stock is in very weak market with K line below D line and stock below both 50 day and 200 day moving average. The stock was the biggest loser on Nasdaq today with 28.74 million shares traded, also the twelveth heaviest traded.
