Stocks On The Move - October 19

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Accentia Biopharmaceuticals Inc. (ABPI): shares of Tampa, Florida based biotechnology company skyrocketted 41.67% to $4.08 per share on positive study on the company's cancer treatment. The stock was the second biggest winner on Nasdaq today with 5.1 million shares traded.
  • Lumera Corp. (LMRA): shares of Bothell, Washington based nanotechnology company soared 30.16% to $6.44 per share. Earlier this week the stock skyrocketted 216.46% after the company successfully tested wireless system that enables transmission of large amount of data. The stock was the fourth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 6.48 million shares exchanged hands.

Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • Citrix System, Inc. (CTXS): shares of Fort Lauderdale, Florida based software company plunged 19.71% to $28.15 per share on decline of revenue from core business. The stock was the third biggest loser on Nasdaq today with 33.74 million shares traded, also the twelveth heaviest traded.
  • Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD): shares of the world's second leading CPU maker tumbled 13.29% to $21.01 per share as price war with rival Intel raised margin concern. The stock was the second leading decliner and the heaviest traded on NYSE today with 96.56 million shares traded.
