Stocks On The Move - January 10

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Ocean Bio-Chem Inc. (OBCI): shares of Fort Lauderdale, Florida based car and boat maintenance products maker skyrocketted 179% to new 52 weeks high of $5.11 per share on increase product shipment to Wal-Mart. The stock was the biggest winner on Nasdaq today with 7.93 million shares traded.
  • Insmed Inc. (INSM): shares of Glen Allen, VA based drug maker for metabolic diseases jumped 22.33% to $1.26 per share after Italian government has asked the company to make its drug Iplex available to physicians in Italy. This provides a great lift to the badly punished stock which has been on the negative side since it lost the patent litigation battle with Tercica earlier last December. The stock was the sixth leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 8.73 million shares traded.
  • Doral Financial Corp.(DRL): shares of San Juan, Puerto Rico based financial service company surged 19.91% to $2.53 per share on bargain hunting as in the previous session the stock was at its 52 weeks low. The stock was the leading gainer on NYSE today with 7.25 million shares traded.
  • Las Vegas Sands Corp.(LVS): shares of Las Vegas, NV based casino resort operator in Las Vegas and Macau surged 11.29% to new 52 weeks high of $102.81 per share as the company received approval for the new development on Hengqin Island near Macau. The stock was the fifth best performer on NYSE today with 5.4 million shares traded.
