- Swift Transportation Co. Inc.(SWFT): shares of Phoenix, Arizona based truckload carrier company surged 26.77% or $6.76 to 52 weeks high of $32.01 per share on strong first quarter earning in which the revenue surged 92% to $37.5 million compared to $19.4 million in the same quarter of previous year. The stock is the third leading advancer on Nasdaq today with 17.4 million shares traded, about 11 times average volumn.
Stocks Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- PortalPlayer Inc. (PLAY): shares of San Jose, CA based chip maker dove 41.88% or $9.46 cents to new 52 weeks low of $13.13 per share on analyst downgrade after Apple Computer Inc. (AAPL) passed on its newest digital music chip. The stock is the second biggest loser on Nasdaq today with 25.7 million shares traded, also the fourteenth heaviest traded on Nasdaq.
- Rambus Inc. (RMBS): shares of Los Altos, CA based memory chips maker plunged 17.38% or $8.1 to $38.5 per share on uncertainty in the patent-infringement lawsuit against Sourth Korea's Hynix Semiconductor Inc.. The stock was the third leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 25 million shares traded, about 5 times average volumn.
