Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:
- GigaBeam Corp.(GGBM): shares of wireless communication solutions provider skyrocketted 73.21% to $4.85 per share after the company received puchase orders for 24 WiFiber links from One Veclocity Inc. The stock was the leading gainer on Nasdaq today with 8.4 million shares traded.
- Opsware Inc. (OPSW): shares of data center automation software maker surged 36.19% to $14 per share after HP agreed to buy th company for $1.65 billion or $14.25 per share. The stock was the second leading gainer and the second heaviest traded on Nasdaq today with 78.8 million shares traded.
- Cumulus Media Inc. (CMLS): shares of Atlanta, GA based radio station operator jumped 32.86% to $11.12 per share after an investor group is buying the company $508 million or $11.75 per share. The stock was the third leading gainer Nasdaq today with 10.7 million shares traded.
Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:
- Nucryst Pharmaceuticals Corporation(NCST): after rising 160% in one day shares of infection and inflammation fighting medical producst maker gave back gain of 29.79% to $4.1 per share on analyst downgrade as the stock's one day miracle may be over-reacted. The stock was the leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 9.6 million shares traded.
- Lifepoint Hospitals Inc.(LPNT): shares of hospital operator tumbled 17.54% to $32.25 per share after the company posted a 61% drop in second-quarter profit. The stock was the fourth leading decliner on Nasdaq today with 9.88 million shares traded.
