Stocks On The Move - July 31

Stocks Rise on Heavy Volumn:

  • Under Armor Inc.(UA): shares of sports clothing maker was able to hold on most of its gain of the day despite a late market retreat and finished up 11.29% at $61.41 due to strong second quarter net income. The stock was the fourth leading gainer on NYSE today with 6.6 million shares trade.
  • Dow Jones & Co. Inc.(DJ): another company that was able to hold on to its gain today was the financial media company Dow Jones with shares advaced 11.29% to $57.38 per share after News Corp. board approves the $5 billion buyout of the company. The stock was the fifth leading gainer on NYSE today with 5.56 million shares trade.

Stock Drop on Heavy Volumn:

  • American Home Mortgage Investment Corp. (AHM): today's doomsday of the real estate investment trust company with stock plummetting 90% to all time low $1.04 per share on worries that the company maybe going for bankruptcy. The stock was the biggest loser on NYSE today with 31.4 million shares traded.
  • RAIT Financial Trust (RAS): another real estate investment trust in trouble was Philadelphia based RAS with shares plunging 35% to $10.36 per share as the company is looking to liquidate assets in order to keep it running. The stock was the fifth leading decliner on NYSE with 22 million shares traded.
